A Brief Vacation From The COLD

While we were in Seattle the power went out for a full week. We roughed it in Marty and Jen's house with lots of fire wood and many warm layers, but never seemed to fully escape the cold. One of Jen's friends kindly invited our kids to attend their son's birthday party and, as a result, we got a few hours of warmth and the kids got to go roller skating for the first time. The only downside was that it wasn't until the very end of our time there that we discovered Alice's wheels weren't turning at all! :( No one ever told me that they tighten kids' wheels to keep them from falling all the time! They had fun anyways!
